Options, options, options… Performance shortboard or longboard?  Funboard of fish? Epoxy or polyester? Thruster, twin fin, or quad? We try to cover all the bases at EI Surf Shop and are here to help de-mystify all the shapes and construction materials in today’s surfboard market to ensure you get the board you want and the one that is best suited for your abilities. Please read our summary if you’re ever confused about all the different surfboard construction materials that are out on the market today.

We’re also very proud and honored to carry locally designed, shaped, and constructed surfboards. It’s our specialty and you’ll find it’s a little bit of a different angle than most surf shops take. The local shaper is an almost extinct species thanks to labor and material prices that require massive overhead expenditures that only the “big” manufactures can accommodate, and has driven a lot of production overseas.

We specifically offer Carl Heverly Shapes, Dirty Bird, and Surf Culture surfboards – again, all made right here in the Emerald Isle area (see below). We have these local boards available off the rack or we can take a custom order to create your special board by shapers that know the local wave conditions and what works. Call the shop for details at 252.354.8422.
