EI Surf Shop is your best choice in Town for rental surfboards, kayaks, bodyboards, and skimboards. We have the
cheapest rates in Emerald Isle, we have a huge selection of boards and kayaks to choose from, we offer a deliver/
pick-up service for a very nominal fee, and we provide friendly “in the know” local advice regarding water and
wave conditions to ensure you have a good time. But perhaps the biggest advantage in choosing EI Surf Shop for
your rental needs is our location.
We’re located at
3102 Emerald Drive, near milepost 15 – in the heart of the rental cottages in Emerald Isle and
less than ¼ mile from the Town’s eastern regional public beach access where a new concrete fishing pier will be
constructed in 2012. And unlike anyone else, we have water access to the sound and ocean right from the shop!
You can take your surfboard or kayak with you or just park the car at the shop and walk to the sound to launch
your kayak, or walk to the beach to surf. This is a great option if your family has a vehicle that can’t carry

We take a lot of pride in offering BIC Surfboards to rent. They have great shapes in a variety of sizes to
accommodate beginners and advanced surfers – from a 5’10” fish, to a 7’9” funshape, to a 10” longboard and all
sizes in between. Our customers always return these boards after having a great time and with a big smile on
their face. The boards in our rental pool are described below and come in two different construction types –
ACS and E-Comp. All rental surfboards come equipped with an ankle leash for safety.
ACS (aerated cellular structure) construction - created using a molded polyethylene shell filled with polyurethane
foam which is found in a regular fiberglass surfboard. These boards are lightweight, durable, stable, and
maneuverable – all in one board!
- 8'4" - Longboard style shape for bigger teens & adults who are learning to surf.
- 7'9" - Funboard shape that is perfect for beginners and intermediates in small and even bigger wave conditions. Very popular board.
- 7'3” – Another very popular funboard shape that provides great floatation but less bulky than the 7’9”.
- 6'7” – Classic shortboard shape for advanced surfers who have good wave catching and turning skills.
- 5'10" – “The Fish" is a small wave catching machine for kids or smaller adults who want a loose board for
turning.
E-Comp (epoxy composite) construction - Uses formed surfaces which are subsequently pressed over a pre-shaped,
lightweight EPS foam core (the lightest surfboard foam available), and covered in 6-oz fiber glass cloth and
epoxy resin to give the board strength. The end result is a great board that is approximately 30% more durable
than standard polyester surfboards but almost identical in regards to flex and weight.
- 9’0” – Great all around longboard. Beginners will appreciate its volume and a forgiving outline, while
advanced surfers are impressed with the way it handles bigger surf and rides through the high-line into and
out of radical sections.
- 10’0” – The “Big Kahuna”. Well-proportioned volume and excellent glide for the beginner or advanced surfer
– very easy board to paddle and catch waves.
There are many styles of kayaks to choose from and we try to cover all the bases at EI Surf Shop – from “one-man”
to “two-mans”, to “sit-ins” to “sit-on-tops”. We offer a wide variety of brands including Ocean Kayak – listed
below. All kayaks come with paddles and appropriately fitted lifejackets.
We offer 42-inch “slick-bottom” body boards for a fast, fun ride that includes a wrist leash, with a soft top
and a hard, slick bottom skin. A great way for kids and adults to have a blast in the surf. Likewise, we have
wood and fiberglass skimboards as well in many sizes for rent to maximize your fun at the beach --- and all at
the right price.
